Handmade wrapping paper...

Just drew some little birds all over a sheet of white tissue paper, it made the perfect wrapping paper for mums birthday present! Time consuming but original! :)

Big buttons!

I was commissioned by a friend (Vicky of 'Vicky's Bread' the most delicious artisan bread in the world!! Especially the Olive Bread - my fave!) to make 3 buttons with a little brooch on the back for her daughters first birthday. She wanted them for her daughter to give to her 'aunties'- her favourite big people!
I had free reign with the design, and she gave me an idea of colours/styles they like and here's what I came up with....she was very pleased with them :)
They're about 4cm diameter.

Apple and Custard Cupcakes....

Made by moi :)

Completed Name Cards.....

I finished the name cards over the weekend for a friends wedding, and I'm pretty pleased how they turned out. I even added a little sparkle to the 'important' people at the wedding (bride, bridesmaids etc!)

I love a challenge when it comes to being creative, and to produce something that I feel needs to be as professional as these, it's a real reward when they turn out well and when the customer's happy!
I got pretty quick at drawing shells too....starting to feel like a pro!! :)

New toy!

I haven't been taking photographs recently as on holiday in France the screen of my old one cracked (my own fault for not using the case sensibly/at all)
:(
Soooo....I decided to treat myself to a new camera, as I just can't really live without one.
This means I can now get back to my passion for taking lovely pictures, and also blog a little more often with my own creativity, as I have many creations I have made that I like to share.....

So now you can expect more of my pictures and not those from everyone else!

Delicious Cupcakes!

Having been asked with my sister to create some wonderfully delicious cupcakes for a wedding I have started to get some inspiration.....and they are making my mouth water!
I would love to make some really pretty ones as well as incredibly tasty!
Anything that looks like the ones I've found would be lovely!!
When we have done some experimenting I will get some pictures up of our own ones!
(Hopefully just as beautiful and professional as these......)

YUM!!

I found this doily/cupcake wrapper idea on Cake Central.com and thought it was such a simple but effective way of making a simple cupcake a bit special! Might give this a go at some point....

Business Cards for my aunty

I've been designing a business card design for my aunty who lives and works in France. She asked for her flowery Doc Marten's to be the main feature, so I have used them along with Poppies as these are very French (to me anyway!) I may include some other ideas, such as Kerrier the dog as he goes along to work to sometimes!
Not sure about colour yet and whether they need it, but here's my first few designs anyway!

Girly themed baby book...

My friend Holly had a beautiful baby girl a couple of weeks ago, so I decided to make a little keepsake gift for her. I ordered these amazing blank board books from Amazon which are perfect for creating your own little books!
I used permenant ink and colouring pencils, so it's not suitable to be used as a baby book, but more like something you can pop up on the shelf for when the child is a little older!
(Not sure it would survive dribble and grubby mittens!)

Brightening up an envelope!

On the back of a very plain white envelope I cut out some hearts using tissue paper and simple stuck them randomly on the envelope using sellotape!
I think it looks much more fun than white!

WoW!

What a totally wonderful idea! Definitely got to buy one of these for the next pressie I need to buy!
Might try and make up my own one to pop in my kitchen as it's such a simple but AMAZING idea!
I found it on Papergrains blog.....thank you!

buttons

Without a camera currently I had the idea of using the webcam to take pics of my new buttons....not the greatest quality but needed to show that I have been being creative recently!

summer daze....

Stumbled upon some of my old sunny images, perfect for this sunny day! Fantastic memories....x

Digital dilemma....

I have made lots of new buttons (in preparation for my stall!) and was hoping to get them on here for you to have a sneak peak, but remembered the screen broke on my camera whilst in France.
This means, that even though my camera still works I seem to have gotten so used to taking pictures using the screen (and checking the image afterwards!) that I feel slightly stumped by this!!
Also, my other dilemma is that the night the screen smashed I switched it to b+w (adamant I am more photogenic in b+w!) but now can't change it back...... :/

Perhaps it's time I treated myself to a new camera...oh yes please!
My little nephew Tom however, suggested I fix it with sellotape! This seems to work for him....he used sellotape to fix the hole in his sock the other day....!!
It might be worth a try.......

Craft stall!

I'm setting up a stall in a couple of weeks to sell my work....and I've been getting some ideas about what to sell, and (just as importantly!) how to display the stand!

I'd love to create a bright stall, thats not too cluttered but that looks pretty and inviting....
I don't need a big table as everything is quite little, but I'd like to make the table a pretty space!

Ideas:
Sandy cream table cloth/or pale green.
Bunting in pretty pinks and florals round the table.
Wicker baskets for selling items (buttons etc)
French style antique white self standing shelf unit....for cards and prints to display. And to hang stitched hearts from...
An area for sample Name Plaques...
A vase with some beautiful flowers!
Wicker chest, full of cards.
A framed painting or 2 in the centre.
Sequin stars/hearts to scatter...

I love this natural, pretty outdoor colour scheme.

These are my thoughts....all I now have to do, is make sure I have made enought to sell....I'm going to have buttons coming out my ears!!
If all goes to plan I will let you know how it goes!! x x

Peak!

I am going to read this book called 'Peak' that I was told about by one of the Irish guys we met whilst in France.
He highly recommended it, and I don't read enough books (however I do LOVE a good read!)

So I will report back once I have read this book......it's about a 14 yr old boy who gets arrested for scaling Manhattan's Woolworth Building, in an attempt to tag his 'blue mountain peak' high on the side of it.
He then tries to become the youngest person to ever scale Everest.

Sounds interesting....!

Beautiful France.....!

So Tom and I had a truely wonderful little trip to France.
We drove in Toms 16 yr old Peugeot 205 (it survived all 1850 miles!) and saw some beautiful sights.

Unfortunately my great intentions of taking 4 fab cameras for some fab shots went a bit wrong :(
I hadn't got the right film for the Diana camera I borrowed (and it was bank holiday Monday the day we left so couldn't purchase another) my SLR camera decided just not to work :/ and my 4 shot camera I thought would be amazing, and NONE of the pictures came out....so luckily my digital camera didn't let me down. (Did manage to smash the screen though so the last part of the holiday was guess work pictures!)

'Love this picture! Captures a moment in time in La Rochelle....I love how much is going on in the image. I think the fact that it's b+w makes it look like I've stepped back in time to take it!'

All in all I highly recommend a road trip to the south of France - one word....beautiful!

I had a little thought whilst away (with lots of time on my hands) about starting writing again....I see this blog as a really great way to get back into writing. I used to love writing stories when I was younnger, however they were incredibly cheesy, girly stories - but I wonder what I could come up with now I am a little older (and perhaps a little wiser?!) If only there were more time in each day, to sit somewhere quietly for an hour or so to just gather my thoughts....

My creative ability sometimes is very frustrating! As I love to be creative, have billions of ideas buzzing round my head all times of the day, and I end up getting little post it notes and reminding myself what it is I want to make next...trouble is - I end up having way more post it notes of ideas than I do of actual work. Doh!

I did get started on my 'season spots' paintings yesterday....summer is nearly complete. Just spring, autumn and winter to go then!
I love it when a plan comes together! And I will post them on here when i (eventually) get them finished!

It's a beautiful day here in sunny Cornwall, having a BBQ tonight, then off to the beach tomorrow for some well deserved (ha!) relaxation time! Well, when it's on your doorstep it would be rude not to!
