french beauty

I am moving soon with my man, to my sisters basement flat! The big move is this weekend, can't believe how quickly that went!

We are saying goodbye to our wonderful, quirky wooden house as we are desperatly trying to save and not really getting very far! It's a shame, as we love it there, but it is time for a change - and time to save!

There are however, things that are starting to get irriating about the house so before I fall out with it, it is time to move on!!

The new flat is a new location (an old location for me!) which will take some time to get used to, but it's a lovely little place, and it has been made perfect for Tom and I to quite happily feel at home!
I'm really excited about a new start, and looking forward to setting up camp!!

I have been looking online for some lovely new items for our house and have my heart set on a french style plate drying rack....

This is my dream plate drying rack (He he!!)

So whilst tracking one of these down, I came across this website Dibor and I fell in love!

Now I have a huge list of all the yummy things I want off there! A girl can dream!

Yes please! And more.......!

CoLOUR!! My inspiration....

I love colour. Using the right colours in the right situation, can be dreamy.

Colours of the rainbow, the sea on a sunny day, a meadow full of flowers, natural colours are beautiful.

I love combining a pallette of colours, somehow I just put them together and know what goes with what! (that's what I thik anyway!!)

I like to think one of my creative strengths is having an eye for colour.

I just find it incredibly beautiful.

Although I'm pretty fussy about which colours! I'm not a huge fan of red, orange or yellow. But make a yellow really pale and it's just perfect! Red has to be that vibrant crimson red, almost deep pink.....and orange will only work for me as a tiny splash in amongst othe gorgeous, contrasting colours!

I've tried to find a few images that sum up my love for colour.....it's not an obsession, I just apprieciate good colour!

These are just two of images of truely hundreds of inspiring colours everywhere!
My inspiration usually comes from books, the outdoors, shops and window displays (the clothes are usually hung in an interesting colour way!) fabrics, patterns etc.
When I am creating a new painting, I like to use colour to compliment the illustration....

some more table names inspiration....

These designs are not so beach related, but I am inspired by colour and texture....anything slightly unusual is a winner!

I love this one! Probably because I love birds and colour!!

This is very unusual, I like the idea of the guests name being on the plate, so they can take it home as a reminder of the day. I would use a tiny plate, so not to take up too much room on the table! I would also use colour....

This is a christmas card design I stumbled upon, but I love the use of coloured ribbon!

Wedding Table Names....

I was invited to a meal at the weekend, which was for a girl who works across the road....she is off to New Zealand for 6months (I want to go!!!!)
As the girls across the road know I enjoy all things creative, I was asked to make some table names for the meal.

They provided me with some bits of chopped up card, and I whizzed up some place names (picture to be uploaded asap) with the NZ flag on and some little sheep!

(These were my first ever attempt at table names!!! As these were a last minute, rushed job - I would love to put some time and creativity into the next ones, to be totally satisfied with the outcome. I want to go for a more sophisticated appoach!)
Our waitress loved them, and explained that she needed some for her wedding soon!
After the meal (and a couple of glasses of wine to pluck up courage!) I found the lovely waitress and gave her my business card......! So here's to the future of new ideas!
I have since been researching Wedding Table Names for inspiration and was surprised by the originality of some of the designs! I hadn't really thought about how unusually creative you can get.... I found some really interesting ideas!
I know the lady wants a beach theme, so I was thinking of shells and ribbon to tie the wedding in with the theme.....here's what I found!

Sea Creature Paintings

(not a table name card.....) but WOW! I love the all cream theme.....

Photos of cupcakes with starfish on.....delicious!
